ABOUT KAAFILA

Kaafila is a Progressive Fusion Band Internationally Acclaimed for its Unique Style, With their fierce playing Instruments, they strike each and every chord in the hearts of music lovers. The Musical Journey began in 2006 with the aim to spread the Sound and Rhythm of colourful Rajasthan all over the world. (In Rajasthan music is an undetectable part of everyone’s life and expresses not only emotions but also reflects the Cultural Diversity of the Nation.)
After more than a Decade of International Activities, Vocalist Abid Ali Khan and Saxophonist Firoj Ali Assembled a Variety of Musicians. The Band became famous especially for its Musical Fusion of Traditional and Western Instruments. Their unique style is created by the combination of western instruments such as Saxophone, Electric Guitar, with Traditional Instruments like harmonium, tabla, sarangi, kartal and Morchang, Accompanied by Sensual Vocals (Abid Ali). Kaafila is a journey of Rajasthani Folk Music. The Traditional Songs Tunes, with a flavour of Jazz and Sufi make it more Melodious and Create Something new – a remembering piece of music in the hearts and minds of listeners for rest of their lives.

Firoz Ali, the founder of Kafila has a different story to discover. Born on 5th November, 1984 in a family where music is not just a profession, it is a need to survive. His eight generations were serving to Rajasthani folk and classical. His paternal family was in the court of Sikar Maharaja and the maternal family was among the few leading gharanas of Jaipur Darbar.

Singer, Composer, Lyricist and extremely awesome Sarangi player, all these in one man – Abid Ali! He is the heart of Kafila and his heart beats for music. Abid is leading the ninth generation of his musical legacy. He was born on 5th May 1984 in a family where music was not just an art form but it was a ‘Parampara’. . His grandfather Late Ustad Abdul Kareem Khan Sahib, who was a renowned Sarangi player and vocalist, was his first guru.
